The Burgman comes with a 400cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, fuel-injected engine that was designed to produce broad, useable power with quiet operation and low maintenance.
 
An Idle Speed Control (ISC) system ensures optimal idling under various conditions.
Electronic fuel injection system provides easy engine starts, precise throttle response, reduced fuel consumption and low emissions

14-inch front wheel carries 260mm hydraulic dual disc brake, while the rear wheel has a 210mm hydraulic disc brake for reliable control.
 
The Burgman 400 is equipped with a convenient parking brake with easy-to-use single lever operation.
Utility/Convenience Features
 
The Burgman 400 offers abundant luggage space; huge 62-liter storage bay, large enough for two normal size full-face helmets or A3-size document case, and a smaller compartment for small personal items. Convenient switchable underseat lights illuminate the entire underseat area.
 
Front bodywork contains three lidded storage compartments; a large 10-liter compartment and two smaller compartments above it. A convenient DC power outlet is on board for charging electric devices while on the move.
 
The comprehensive and easy-to-read instrument binnacle incorporates a speedometer, a tachometer, an odometer, twin tripmeters, a clock, and indicators for the ambient temperature, average fuel consumption, fuel level, and coolant temperature.
 
A security gate allows a chain lock to be passed through the bodywork around the frame.
